10 Ways To Pamper Yourself With Olive Oil. Real Beauty. Real Benefits.
By
Olive Oil has been used along the Mediterranean coast since the dawn of recorded civilization.
It has been used as a skin cleaning agent and moisturizer since the days of the Persians. It is rich in fatty acids that can open up the pores and lift out dead skin cells, and it’s very good at moisturizing the skin.
Olive oil facial cleansers are an excellent choice for a more youthful looking skin. This oil contains properties which make it more closely compatible with the natural oil that our body produces. It is an excellent source of healing antioxidants.
In ancient Greece, one of the things that athletes did when preparing for completion was ritually rubbing this oil all over their bodies.
Here are 10 ways how you can pamper yourself with olive oil: And,
*1. Use it for softening and treating calluses and ingrown toenails. When used on the nails it keeps them grow stronger, and can clear up minor amounts of nail fungus on toenails. It can also soften the cuticles.
*2. Use it for hair where it acts as a conditioner and shines the hair up nicely.
*3. Use it as a dental agent, swishing a mouthful of olive oil and spitting it out. This reduces swelling from gingivitis and removes acid from acidic foods before they damage your tooth enamel.
*4. Use it for an upset stomach by drinking two tablespoons of olive oil. The Romans and Greeks were also fond of drinking a cup of it before eating a spicy meal in order to prevent heartburn. (Apparently, it coats the lining of the stomach and the intestines).
*5. Use heated compresses of olive oil to treat cramping (both menstrual and exertion related)..
*6. Use Olive oil as ear drops to deal with ear infections.
*7. Use it as a cough remedy, an expectorant, to treat constipation, soothe frostbite, and as an enema solution.
*8. Use it as a makeup remover. Dabbing a bit of olive oil on a swab makes a great way to pull up makeup and clear the pore of the skin. As an added benefit, it also removes waterproof mascara like a champ.
*9. Use olive oil to get rid of acne scars. The oil can be used either topically or taken orally. Wash your face with a mild cleanser and pat dry.
Swipe a small portion of natural oil on to a cotton swap and dab directly on to the affected area. Allow the oil to dry for ten to fifteen minutes before touching your face or applying another moisturizer.
For best results you should apply the oil once a day, preferably at night. While it can be applied in the morning it may give your skin an undesirable sheen.
*10. Olive oil can combat blackheads. When you leave the oil on your skin, it softens the dirt that’s trapped inside your pores.
This may not get rid of blackheads immediately but will provide a serious benefit in the ongoing struggle against them. Extra virgin olive oil works best. You won’t damage your skin by leaving olive oil on your face like you will by using pore strips.

Great article. Make sure you always use certified organic cold-pressed oils. If it’s not organic, your risk exposure to pesticides. Cold-pressing ensures the nutrients in the oil are still bio-available. If the oil is extracted using heat, many of the nutrients are killed.
