I have tried taking ginger during my first week in the gym. It really helped me a lot and I let my friends use it and they have positive response to it as well. It is always good to use natural ginger for me so that it will also give you positive effects. The information above is very helpful. I will also let my grandmother use it since she also has an arthritis.

Choose a pot at least four times the size of your ginger rhizome and fill the pot three-quarters full of potting mixture.
Lay your rhizome flat on top and cover it with about an inch of soil. Keep the pot in a sunny location until sprouts appear, then move it to an area with bright but indirect light. Allow enough room in the pots, about 10 to 12 inches deep, for the actual ginger roots to form.
When roots reach about an inch in length, plant the ginger rhizome just below the surface of a rich, moist potting mixture, making sure that your pot allows for good drainage.

This intrigues me, we eat a fair amount of ginger so it would be nice to grow on our own. A couple of questions - how big does the pot need to be (depth, in particular), what exactly do you mean by rhizome? Once we have 1" roots, do we put the entire piece under the soil? Finally, in terms of fresh outcroppings, what would this look like. There aren't any stores nearby with good produce departments but perhaps I'll get lucky to find one with reasonably fresh ginger some day. Thank you!
