Natural Skin Care From The Garden:Tomatoes

Natural Skin Care From The Garden:TomatoesHave you ever tried natural skin care with tomatoes right out of your organic garden?

It turns out beauty is more than skin deep: The average person slathers, lathers, rubs and sprays, 10 different skin care products on his or her body every day—and since our skin acts more like a sponge than a barrier, we absorb the nearly 130 chemicals we regularly expose ourselves to.

The fact is, no one really knows how certain chemicals affect us over a time, or how they react in our bodies in combination. Forget chemical peels, surgical face-lifts, or Botox, you can get fresh, glowing skin right out of your garden. This skin care routine will lock in moisture, keep chemicals at bay, and nourish and refresh your skin.

The use of tomato for skin care is ideal because of its cooling and astringent properties. It is rich in vitamin C making it helpful for acne and brightening dull skin and contains vitamin A needed for building healthy skin.

Its naturally acidic properties help it balance the skin and get rid of excessive oil. The antioxidants in tomatoes make them free radical fighters.

Tomatoes are also loaded with antioxidants that can prevent further wrinkling. Tomato, used externally, is good for getting a good complexion.  And,

Apply the pulp of a tomato liberally on the face. Leave this for an hour. Then wash off with warm water. Repeat this daily. You will have a good complexion. It will also remove ugly-looking pimples in a short time.

Tomato Lotion

To one tablespoon of tomato juice add a couple of drops of lime juice. Apply on face and remove after 15 minutes. It is very effective for shrinking enlarged pores.

Tomato Tonic

To two teaspoons of tomato juice add four tablespoons of buttermilk. Apply. Remove after half an hour. It is excellent for removing sunburns.

Tomato and Avocado Cleansing Mask

This mask is good for people with combination skin because it combines the astringent, blackhead removing and oil reducing properties of the tomato with the antiseptic and hydrating properties of avocado.

To make this soothing and cooling mask, mash one small tomato and one small avocado. Mix them together and apply the mixture on your face. Rinse after 20 to 30 minutes with warm water.

Tomato and Yogurt Cooling Mask

This is a variation of a Tomato mask. Rather than using luscious avocado, you will use Yogurt. The Yogurt is a natural skin softening agents and it adds the benefit of protein into this rich mask.

To make this mask, crunch a small tomato and add 2 tablespoons of yogurt. Mix them well and spread the mixture onto the face for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
