You’ll love tomatoes you’ve grown yourself. Yep, tomatoes you can actually eat!
No matter what you say, if you tell me you can’t tell the difference between a store bought tomato and a home grown tomato then you either do not like tomatoes or you are lying.
Try slicing both of them and then look at the difference. Those store bought ones can be so mushy that the only thing they’re good for is tomato sauce. And even that won’t taste as good as it does when you make it with home grown tomatoes.
Everybody is aware of the fact that home grown tomatoes taste better. However apart from the taste, home grown tomatoes are simply better for you. And they’re better for the environment, too.
If you, like me, very much enjoy a real, sweet juicy tomato, then, you may be surprised to discover how easy it is to grow your own. And, fun, too! Look into my ebook“Breakthrough Growing Organic Tomatoes” And,
For example, I bet you did not know that most of those grocery store tomatoes are picked before they are ripe. That gives both the grower and the processor enough time to ship them clear across the country on a truck.
However before they put them on that truck, they treat them with a chemical to finish ripening while in transit. And they might spend days packed into the back of that hot trailer.
So when they arrive to your food market, they’ve been artificially ripened with a chemical and they are mushy because you’d be mushy too if you were packed into a hot, dusty trailer for 3 or 4 days.
Now when you purchase that tomato at the grocery store you cut it open. It’s typically pretty pale on the inside and mostly all water. That’s because all that chemical did was make them look ripe on the outside.
And that is why they do not have any taste. They’re not ripe!
However, you do get the additional benefit of that chemical they ripened it with, plus the chemical they fertilized it with AND the chemical pesticides they used while they were growing it.
Isn’t it enough with those “benefits”?
On the contrary,if you slice open home grown tomatoes, which were allowed to completely ripen on the vine, you see that they’re firm on the inside and full of lots of color and flavor.
And the more color you have in all of your vegetables the more vitamins and nutrients they contain.
A recent study found that a home grown vegetable had 84 minerals and elements that were identified as opposed to 8-10 in the same exact vegetable planted from seeds from the same seed packet but grown conventionally with the standard chemical fertilizers and pesticides/herbicides.
The study neglected to mention how many chemicals you’d find in the store bought tomato but I bet it’s more than you’d care to know about.
Once you’ve had a home grown tomato you’ll never buy one at the supermarket again. Growing your own tomatoes may surprise you as to how easy it truly is.
And, they will be the rubies of your garden. Believe me, you’ll love tomatoes you’ve grown in your own yard!
