I've had people write me asking if they can donate money to charities. I don't think that we need to tell you that donating to a charity doesn't give you a full health, but I will do my best to tell you how to donate for those who have limited resources. The easiest way is to use your bank or credit card. Most banks accept donations of the following: food: groceries, cereal, fruits and vegetables, canned foods, dried food, candy, soft drinks, dairy products, dried fruits, dried milk and eggs. Paper/card products: clothing, personal care items (carpet, toys, toiletries, etc), books, magazines, newspapers and books.
Airlines, hotels and motels will give you cash for donations and will also deliver goods. I know of one case in San Francisco where a traveler dropped off a small amount of cash for the cause, but when the airport picked it up the person gave the rest to charity. The traveler did not give up his or her money, but gave it in a personal capacity.
